Kippa Travels. The book, the boat and how you can develop your skills.
Kippa is a Hunter Horizon 272 built in 1990. During 2007 she went on a voyage around Britain. Her owner, Rupert Hugh Emerson, has written a book about the adventure called "Kippa Travels". It will be published in 2008 and includes colour photographs and the description of visiting 120 harbours and anchorages around the coast. There were many mishaps along the way including being towed in by a lifeboat and nearly being wrecked, twice, but there were highlights too, especially making camp in the Scottish Hebrides. While the book will appeal to seafarers it will also appeal to landlubbers because there is little "sailing jargon" although the sense of life aboard is very strong.
Advance orders are now being taken. Contact Rupert at rupertemerson @ hotmail.com for further details on how to order.
Rupert is also doing talks about the adventure in aid of RYA Sailability (the charity that helps disabled people sail) and the RNLI (Lifeboats). If you would like to book him for a talk, please get in touch at the email address above.
Sadly, Kippa is now for sale. She is in excellent condition and very well equipped. Find out more on the Kippa For Sale page and the inventory page. For further details Rupert on 01483 20 2406.
Being commercially endorsed, Rupert Emerson is now able to offer "own boat tuition". This would be ideal for someone with their own yacht who is looking for one to one help from somebody patient. Courses are all very well but they do not always deliver the result individuals are seeking. Find out more on the "Own Boat Tuition" page so you can make the most of your yacht this season.
Having recently passed his RYA Cruising Instructor course, Rupert is also available to work for sailing schools on a freelance basis. You will find him to be a gentle type - both with people and boats. His business experience of training is considerable and he has a reputation for building happy, motivated, self-managing teams. He is also very patient with sailors struggling with particular skills.
Go to the Training Film page to see a film of Rupert training.
Rupert is assessing demand for RYA Day Skipper Theory courses in the Guildford and Dorking areas. If you would be interested in joining such a course in September or October 2008 please contact Rupert.
