The book was written using the diary and log recorded by Rupert Hugh Emerson during his circumnavigation of Britain.

Rupert visited many harbours and anchorages.  The most beautiful in Devon were Teignmouth, Dartmouth, Newton Ferrers, Dandy Hole and Clovelly.

In Wales, Fishguard, St Dogmaels, New Quay and  Aberdovey were the highlights. In Northern Ireland all of Strangford Lough was wonderful

In western Scotland, Crinan, Puilladobhran, the Hebrides, Loch Sunart and Loch Drumbuie were very memorable.  In the Moray Firth, people were so friendly and made Cromarty and Findhorn stand out.  But finest of all were Lindisfarne and Wells-next-the-sea in Norfolk.    The home stretch of Beachy Head and the Seven Sisters as well as the Jurassic coast were gorgeous too.

The most hairy moments were coming in to Findhorn and getting beached in breakers when the channel was unmarked, nearly being wrecked on rocks in the Kyles and dead reckoning in fog with a broken engine and dying electrics.  Scariest of all was the night crossing from Spurn Head where a large ship nearly ran us down.  No wonder there were strange mirages during the night passage through the North Sea.

If you are interested to find out more about the less well known ports such as the River Lerryn, Penzance, Portpatrick, Gardenstown, Johnshaven, Anstruther, Snape or Rye, Skippering Kippa will give you a special insight.

Skippering Kippa is presented in the attractive Royal size (a little larger than the conventional size) and includes 21 colour photos. The book is nicely bound in a gloss cover.
